The 14th International CoMuseum Conference completed successfully, offering three days full of insightful talks, engaging discussions, hands-on workshops, and vibrant networking opportunities. Together, we explored how museums and cultural organizations—trust-building institutions at their core—can foster diverse perspectives and champion inclusion for all.
What is the role of art and culture in this recovery? Is now the time to demonstrate how and why culture matters? Can museums and cultural organizations participate in the social, economic, and wellness-based recovery needs of the communities in which they reside? How can museums plan and prepare for the next inevitable disruption by designing programmes and exhibitions that matter to society? How can museums restore trust and unity, build new cross-sectoral alliances, and form new networks, while fostering diversity and sustainability?
In answering these questions, organizations will need to adjust their models and business structures, moving from known frameworks to unknown and new paradigms of operation.
We welcomed 36 distinguished speakers from Greece, the U.S., the UK, and across Europe, who shared their expertise, experiences, and best practices. Their contributions inspired all of us to reflect on how we can amplify the social role of museums and cultural organizations.
