CONFERENCE VENUES
BENAKI MUSEUM
The Benaki Museum / Pireos 138 is a hub of visual and performing arts with 3,000m2 of exhibition space and a 400-seat lecture and concert theatre housed at a refurbished industrial building.

This year, The CoMuseum Conference marks its 15th anniversary—an important moment to reflect on fifteen years of transformative museum practice while envisioning the future of museums as spaces of hope.
The 2025 theme, “Museums and Hope”, positions museums as places of human connection, imagination, healing and resilience. As global societies face increasing polarization, technological acceleration, and cultural fragmentation, we ask: What does it mean to be human—and hopeful—today? And if museums are both stewards of the past and curators of our shared future, how can they foster a more compassionate and expansive understanding of what it means to be human?
CoMuseum 2025 will examine the evolving role of museums in shaping a more inclusive, democratic, and empathetic society. Through a dual lens—retrospective and forward-looking—we will imagine alternative futures, and explore tools, ideas, and leadership models that empower museums to bridge divides and act as catalysts for resilience and collective imagination.
Partnerships & support:
The Conference is organised by the Benaki Museum and the British Council.
The CoMuseum is also the flagship program of the British Council’s Museums Revisited programme in Europe.
Invited speakers are innovators, daring changemakers and strong advocates of the power that culture has on people’s lives. They are determined to multiply this power by sharing their most valuable expertise and experience.
Participants work together to find solutions on common challenges in the field of cultural production. As a core part of the conference, the workshops use new models of learning together at the intersection of culture, activism, education, creativity, entrepreneurship, solidarity, urbanism and social innovation.
The Satellite Program is a series of additional visits and conversations that takes place on the second day of the CoMuseum conference, and enables further networking, creates more opportunities and connects international guests with the local arts and culture community in Athens.
